BARNEGAT BAY, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A missing Golden Retriever was reunited with his owners after police officers found him swimming in Barnegat Bay Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The three-year-old dog, whose name is Chunk, went missing in Brick on June 6, New Jersey State Police said on Facebook.

On Tuesday, a group of New Jersey state troopers were getting ready to start their shifts when someone reported seeing a dog paddling in Barnegat Bay.

The dog in question turned out to be Chunk.

“Troopers Koehler and Ferdinandi responded in a vessel and located Chunk, who was swimming in the area of the Mantoloking Bridge, and were able to bring him safely to shore,” the state police department said.

“Needless to say, [Chunk] was ecstatic to be reunited with his grateful owners,” the department added.
