Hall of Fame Quarterback Kurt Warner Takes High Road vs. Chris Simms

(WEEI) - After going back-and-forth with Chris Simms via Twitter last week, NFL Network's Kurt Warner joined Ordway, Merloni & Fauria to further explain himself.

It all started with Simms ranking Tom Brady No. 9 on his list of the 40 best quarterbacks in the NFL. Warner took issue with it via Twitter, and Simms called him a troll and a "part-time analyst."

Warner took the high road Tuesday and didn't really go back at Simms, but did question how he had Brady ranked so low.

“I am not worried about the shots," Warner said. "That is the nature of the business now. It seems like everybody who doesn’t agree with someone, you take shots at someone. It’s just agreeing and making your [argument]. I obviously had Tom Brady No. 1. I don’t know how with the way he continuously has success, continuously has his team in championship form, continues to make plays at the biggest moments — you don’t have to have him No. 1. No problem. I can see some arguments with why you would move him down, but to have him nine or 10 on the list, it’s to be just crazy.

"The problem I have is I am not saying Chris doesn’t do his work or have reasons for it, I just find it hard to give someone credibility when they have Drew Brees, who set a record in competing 73 percent of his passes, and then Tom Brady who won the Super Bowl, having them way down at nine or 10 on the list. It’s hard for me to understand. I am not a big fan of, ‘Well, if they were in another system…’ If all of us were in a different system or with other players, our careers could look completely different, but we have no idea and no way to know that.

"I hate that argument. ‘Well, if you put Patrick Mahomes in that offense, then they would have won the Super Bowl, too.’ I don’t know. To me I don’t like that part of the argument so you have to give me a little bit more than he doesn’t do enough in the system, or the system helps him a great deal. I am not a fan of those types of things.”
