NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The Kraft Heinz Co. announced on Wednesday that it has teamed up with plant-based food manufacturer NotCo to produce its first-ever plant-based version of its iconic mac & cheese.

The plant-based mac & cheese, which is beginning to land in stores now, contains no dairy and is available in two flavors: original and white cheddar.

NotCo and Kraft have already teamed up on two other products: NotCheese Slices and NotMayo.

"Our partnership with NotCo and its innovative AI technology enables us to offer the classic Kraft Mac & Cheese experience without dairy," Lucho Lopez-May, CEO of The Kraft Heinz Not Company said. "We're making plant-based alternatives more accessible without asking consumers to compromise on taste."

The launch aims to address the growing demand for plant-based alternatives in the mac & cheese category.

Lopez-May emphasized the NotMac&Cheese venture's commitment to replicating the flavors of beloved foods using plant-based ingredients.
