HICKSVILLE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island man was charged for allegedly assaulting a teenage girl and responding police officer in a Hicksville shopping mall on Friday, Nassau County Police said.
Allan Nunez, 30, is charged with second-degree assault, forcible touching, endangering the welfare of a child, disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and harassment.
Officers responded to Broadway Mall at about 4:30 p.m. “for reports of an intoxicated male being aggressive towards the public,” police said.
When police approached Nunez, he allegedly attacked them. Police said that one officer sustained injuries due to the defendant being “violent and combative while resisting arrest.”
The injured cop was taken to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. Nunez was also taken to a nearby hospital.
An investigation revealed that Nunez had allegedly groped and forcibly touched a 15-year-old girl while she walked around Round1 Bowling & Arcade before officers arrived.
Nunez, of Bayville, is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
Anyone who may have been victimized by Nunez is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
