MASSAPEQUA PARK, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A West Babylon man injured a detective as he attempted to evade arrest in Massapequa Park for selling narcotics that led to a fatal overdose, police said.

During an investigation into a Nassau County resident's April 10 overdose, Javonne Mimms allegedly slammed a police car with a 2018 white BMW near the Best Western Hotel in Massapequa Park on Wednesday, injuring a detective's back.
Authorities said he then fled the scene after striking a second parked, unoccupied vehicle.
Eventually, the 30-year-old was arrested in Lindenhurst and detectives recovered a white substance believed to be crack cocaine, police said.
The injured officer was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Mimms is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, second-degree assault, three counts of second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of leaving the scene of an incident.
He was due to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
Mimms was previously arrested on May 12 for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was released without bail.
