RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — A Long Island woman was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly setting fire to her home with three children inside last month, Suffolk County Police said.

Ashley Richard, 26, was charged with second-degree arson and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

At about 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 12, Richard intentionally set her residence in Ronkonkoma on fire while three children—ages 6, 9 and 13—were inside, according to police.

After the fire was set, Richard told the children to evacuate through a first-floor window, officials said. She also left the residence, and no injuries were reported.

Richard was arrested following an investigation by detectives with the arson section, and was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
