LI woman dies after wrong-way driver hits her car

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A woman died on Thursday afternoon after a wrong-way crash in Patchogue, according to Suffolk County Police.

A Jeep driven by a 48-year-old woman heading south, veered into the northbound lanes at around 2 p.m. in front 641 Medford Ave.

The Jeep driver crashed into Michelle Mallon-Gennarelli’s Toyota Camry.

Mallon-Gennarelli, 65, was fatally injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Jeep driver was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with injuries which were non-life-threatening.

No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under active investigation.
