Woman injured, man critical after being shot while sitting in parked car on Long Island

WYANDANCH, N.Y. (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A woman is injured and a man is in critical condition after the pair was shot while sitting in a parked car on Long Island late Friday night, Suffolk County Police said.

It happened at about 11:17 p.m. as a 26-year-old West Babylon man and 25-year-old East Patchogue woman were sitting in a northbound-facing parked vehicle in front of 32 Winter Ave. in Wyandanch.

A vehicle traveling northbound pulled up to the passenger side of the victims' car and fired shots, hitting the man in the head and the woman in her right arm, police said.

The shooter then fled the scene.

After being shot, the woman drove herself and the man to a local hospital for treatment. She was aided and released, while the man remains in critical condition.
