NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — One man is dead and another is seriously wounded after they were attacked on a Queens subway train overnight, according to the NYPD.

The two victims, both in their 20s, were aboard a southbound 7 train approaching the 61st Street-Woodside subway station at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday when police said they got into a dispute with their assailant.

The suspect stabbed one man in his chest and slashed the other across his face.

Officials said that both victims were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst for treatment, but the man with the chest wound could not be saved. The victim who suffered the facial injury remains in serious condition.

Police have taken a person of interest into custody, though no charges have yet been filed.

It was not immediately clear if the victims or assailant knew one another, nor what the trio was fighting about.

The investigation is ongoing.
