NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 1-year-old boy was attacked by an off-leash dog near Union Square Park this week, police said Wednesday.

The child was at East 13th Street and Broadway around 11:10 a.m. Sunday when the dog lunged at him, according to police.

The boy suffered multiple lacerations to his leg and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.

Disturbing video posted to social media shows a pit bull latched onto the boy's leg as onlookers try frantically to get the dog to release him.

Police said the dog’s owner had the pet off-leash at the time. It wasn’t immediately clear if they’d be facing charges.
