NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 16-year-old girl was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after she was hit in the head by an overhead beam while subway surfing atop a Queens subway train.
It happened at around 3:12 p.m. aboard a southbound A train as it pulled into the Broad Channel station. According to officials, the teenager climbed onto the roof of the train car before colliding with the overhead structure.
The teen was alert and conscious immediately following the incident. She was taken to an area hospital and remains in critical condition, the FDNY said.
