NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Two men were injured in separate shootings that happened overnight in Staten Island, according to police.

The first incident happened around midnight Friday morning on Richmond Road, between Dongan Hills Avenue and Seaver Avenue, in the Dongan Hills section of the borough.

According to authorities, a 28-year-old man was shot in the left shin by an unknown perpetrator whom he did not see.

He was transported to Staten Island University North Hospital by EMS and is expected to recover.

The victim told police that he heard gunshots prior to feeling pain in his leg. It remains unclear if he was the intended target of the shooting.

About an hour later, a second man was also hurt in a shooting on Targee Street, near Laurel Avenue, in the Clifton section of the borough.

In that incident, the 39-year-old victim was involved in a dispute with the gunman, who shot him once in the right knee before fleeing the scene.

The victim was also transported to Staten Island University North Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Though the suspect was known to the victim, police officials said they have not made an arrest.

There is also no arrest in connection with the first shooting.

Both investigations remain ongoing.
