2 teens arrested after crashing stolen car into LI home

MASTIC BEACH, N.Y. (1010 WINS) — Suffolk County Police arrested two teen boys Sunday after they crashed a stolen car into a Long Island residence.

Officers in an unmarked police vehicle observed a 2014 Kia Optima at the intersection of Mastic Road and Patchogue Avenue in Mastic Beach.


According to officials, the Kia had been reported stolen earlier. Upon police arrival, the Kia fled before it could be stopped.

Minutes later, the Kia crashed into the home located at 196 Washington Ave., authorities said.

Police apprehended the driver he attempted to flee the scene on foot while the passenger remained in the vehicle.

Both were transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshall responded to access structural damage to the residence. The Kia was impounded.

The two 16-year-old boys, who are not being identified due to their
age, were charged with criminal possession of stolen property and issued an appearance tickets and will be arraigned at a later date.
