NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Three children and their mother were injured in a fifth-floor apartment fire in Inwood early Sunday that the FDNY said was triggered by an e-bike's lithium-ion battery.

Fire officials said the fire broke out in the apartment of a six-story building at 165 Sherman Ave. in Inwood around 1:35 a.m. The fire was under control about an hour later.

Police said the three kids—a 1-year-old, an 8-year-old, and a 15-year-old—and the woman were taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Three of them were critically injured.

Firefighters did discover an e-bike inside the apartment.
