NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a trio of robbers who stole at least six mopeds from people in Queens this summer, often at knifepoint, police said Tuesday.
All six incidents identified by police occurred in central Queens and included at least two suspects, police said.
The first robbery occurred at about 11:35 p.m. on June 30 as a 29-year-old man rode his moped eastbound on 107 Avenue. Two suspects approached, struck him in the head with a chain and stole his moped at knifepoint, police said.
The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated by medics at the scene, officials said.
No injuries were reported in the following five robberies, which took place between July 3 and Aug. 7. All of the victims were men ages 22 to 55, excluding the last victim, whose age is unknown.
There were two suspects involved in the second and third robberies, officials said, and both crimes were conducted at knifepoint between midnight and 1 a.m.
Three suspects were involved in the remaining three robberies.
Police said that two of the robberies relied on numbers, intimidating one man and forcibly removing another from his moped. A knife was flashed by one of the robbers in the most recent incident on Linden Boulevard, authorities said.
Police on Tuesday released surveillance images of the three male suspects in the hope that someone recognizes them.
