NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An alleged drunk driver caused a three-car crash that injured his passenger, another driver and two NYPD officers early Sunday morning in Sheepshead Bay, police said.

The 24-year-old driver was allegedly drunk behind the wheel of a Chevy Suburban heading northbound on Coney Island Avenue just after 2 a.m. when he smashed into a Volvo XC90 driver going westbound on Avenue U.

The Volvo then collided with a marked NYPD cruiser that was headed southbound on Coney Island Avenue, police said.

The high-impact crash left the vehicles completely smashed across an entire block of Coney Island Avenue.

A 31-year-old man who was a passenger in the Chevy was ejected from the vehicle and severely injured. He was hospitalized at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn in critical but stable condition.

Two NYPD officers in the cruiser were also injured—one with a broken pelvis, a broken arm and head trauma, and the other with a broken hip. They were both hospitalized in stable condition.

A 34-year-old woman who was driving the Volvo had minor injuries.

The uninjured driver of the Chevy, Diyorjon Sobirjonov, was taken into custody at the scene. He faces charges of DWI, reckless endangerment and refusing an alcohol test.
