NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Four people were killed and more were injured during at least five separate shootings in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens on Friday evening into Saturday morning, according to police.
The violence began in Fordham, where 21-year-old Jayquan Lewis was found fatally shot inside BH Gourmet Deli on Bainbridge Avenue around 4 p.m., police said. Lewis, who lived nearby on the avenue, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Another three people were injured in a shooting around midnight in Bed-Stuy, near the corner of Lexington and Marcy avenues, police said. The three male victims had minor injuries and were transported to Kings County Hospital.
Two hours later, just after 2 a.m. Saturday, a man was fatally shot in the head in the Woodlawn area of the Bronx, near the corner of Jerome and Bainbridge avenues, according to the NYPD. EMS pronounced the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, dead at the scene.

Another 38-year-old man was found shot in the torso around the same time in Far Rockaway, police said. Cops responding to the shooting in front of 151 Beach 26 Street found the victim unconscious and unresponsive. He was transported to Saint John's Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Two more men were shot back in Morris Heights around 4:11 a.m., police said. One victim, a 27-year-old man, was fatally shot in the chest. Another 23-year-old man was transported to Saint Barnabas Hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso and he remains in stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made, according to police.
The shootings come as crime began to decline once more in the city. After seeing a spike in shootings during the pandemic, the NYPD reported a year-to-year drop in shootings and murders for both June and July.
