NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police are searching for four assailants accused of beating an MTA bus driver with sticks and a crutch during an argument last month, and released photos of the suspects on Friday.

The bus driver was operating a Q86 bus in the vicinity of 253rd Street and 149th Avenue in Rosedale at about 7:50 a.m. on Friday, May 29, when a suspect started a verbal dispute with him. The argument soon escalated to a physical altercation, police said.

Authorities said that a black Hyundai Sonata then approached the bus, and three suspects exited, jumping into the fight. They used sticks and a crutch to beat the 47-year-old driver, striking him multiple times about the head and body, causing him to drop his cellphone.

The group snatched the phone and fled the location in the Hyundai, traveling eastbound on 149th Avenue, officials said.

Medics transported the victim to Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital in stable condition.

Three of the suspects are described as female, and the fourth as male, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
