NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a group of teen boys who allegedly broke into a booth aboard a Bronx subway train over the weekend, according to authorities.
Just after 7 p.m. on Saturday, the teens, all of whom are minors, were able to get into an unauthorized area that granted them access to the train's controls at the back of a northbound 4 train as it traveled between the 161st Street and 167th Street stations.
According to MTA Spokesperson Aaron Donovan, once inside, the train operator "became aware that there had been vandalism" and immediately reported it.
Dispatchers contacted police while the train was held at the next station.
The four teens — ages 14, 16 and 17 — were taken into custody on the train, police said. They face potential charges including reckless endangerment, tampering and criminal trespass.
It is unclear how the teens were able to open the door.
The teens never had the ability to impact the train's operations, the MTA said.
