NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Five people were injured, including two critically, in a fire Friday morning at a mixed-use Brooklyn building that houses a synagogue.
At about 6:19 a.m., officials received a call for a report of an automatic fire alarm at 1847 60th St. near 19th Avenue in Mapleton.
FDNY units arrived on scene of the three-story building with a synagogue on the first floor and apartments above.
The blaze started in the kitchen of a second floor apartment, according to fire officials.
EMS transported five patients to Maimonides Medical Center, including at least one who was admitted to the burn unit.
An investigation is ongoing.
