NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD launched an investigation after a shooting outside a East Village deli left one employee dead and another man wounded over the weekend.

According to police, gunfire erupted at approximately 11:38 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, outside of Sal's Deli & Grocery near the intersection of East 13th Street and Avenue B.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered two 28-year-old men on the sidewalk, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso.

One of the victims — Abdul Saleh, a deli worker—were rushed by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue. Saleh was later pronounced dead. The second victim remains in stable condition.

An argument began inside deli then spilled out onto the street, officials said.

No arrests have been made and a $5,000 reward is being offered by the United Bodegas of America for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting.

Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
