NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – One person was killed and seven others were injured—one of them critically—in a multi-vehicle crash near the Kosciuszko Bridge in Queens on Thursday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened around 10:50 a.m. on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway approach to the bridge in Maspeth, according to police and video from the scene.
The collision involved four vehicles—two pickup trucks and two SUVs, one of them a taxi—in the westbound lanes of the BQE heading towards Brooklyn.

Citizen App video shows police investigating on the roadway near several smashed vehicles—one of them overturned—on a murky morning when the city was seeing its first major rain since September.
Among the eight patients taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst was a 75-year-old driver who was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.

A male who was a passenger in the taxi was also in critical condition, while a 9-year-old girl who was a passenger in that cab was in stable condition.
Accessing some of the victims required extrication, according to the FDNY.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
The crash was causing significant traffic delays into the afternoon on the westbound BQE as well as the nearby Long Island Expressway.
