NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — At least seven people were hospitalized after an MTA bus crashed into several cars in the Bronx on Monday afternoon, officials and police sources told 1010 WINS.
The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. in front of 665 E. 163rd St. near Trinity Avenue, officials said.
Police sources said that six civilians and the MTA bus driver were injured in the crash and transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln for treatment of minor injuries.
The MTA said that the bus was operating on the Bx6 route and was taken out of service. The NYPD is leading the investigation.
According to police sources, the 63-year-old female bus driver lost control of the bus, smashing into several vehicles. An investigation is ongoing into what happened, with officials looking at possibilities of a mechanical failure or the operator experiencing a medical issue.
