NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released photos of a suspect on Thursday who is wanted in connection with the defacing of a statue outside a Catholic church in Queens last month.
It happened at about 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, outside St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church on 11th Street in Long Island City.
The vandal used spray paint on a statue of Saint Francis, writing the word "pagan," before fleeing the scene, police said.
Due to the use of anti-religious language, this incident is being investigated by the NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force.
