NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Andrew Giuliani, the son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, will run for governor of New York next year, he announced on Tuesday.

"Together WE WILL bring New York back! #NYForGiuliani2022 http://NYForGiuliani.com," he wrote on Twitter.

The younger Giuliani, 35, recently worked as a top aide to former President Donald Trump. He will run as a Republican. in a field that includes Long Island Rep. Lee Zeldin and former Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, who ran against current Gov. Andrew Cuomo in 2014.

“I’m the only candidate that’s announced that has spent parts of five different decades in politics or public service," Giuliani told 1010 WINS. "This is something that I’ve had 32 years of experience doing."

“That’s what you’d get from a Governor Giuliani in Albany: You’d get somebody that would let the business sector take the lead, work with them, create private-public — and I said that on purpose, in that order — private-public partnerships to make sure that we light the furnace to make New York the economic development capitol of the world again," he said.
