NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Young fans swarmed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Capitol Hill on Thursday, TMZ video shows.

Students on a class trip rushed to meet the progressive firebrand from New York as she appeared on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
“I cried,” one overwhelmed fan said as she walked away from meeting the 32-year-old lawmaker.

AOC was all smiles as students gave her hugs and took photos with her.
“AOC on three—one, two, three!” one boy shouted as several students posed with the Bronx-Queens congresswoman.
“I think it’s so incredible that we have so many young people that are engaged right now, and paying attention, and fired up, and like invested in this process,” AOC when asked about the kids’ enthusiasm.
“Because for a long time, this place would have been very unwelcoming to young people,” she said. “It’s way past time that changes. I’m excited not just that they’re here, but that they’re excited to be here.”
