NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two men pretending to be repairmen conned their way into a Bronx man’s apartment earlier this month before holding him at knifepoint and stealing his safe containing $30,000, among other valuables, police said Friday.

At about 1 p.m. on Sept. 20, two suspects were able to enter a 43-year-old man’s apartment in the South Bronx, near Courtlandt Avenue and East 150th Street, by posing as repairmen dispatched to fix a leak.

Once the victim let them inside, police said that both frauds pulled out knives. While one suspect held his knife to the victim’s throat, the other bound his hands with duct tape, restraining him.

They then used a crowbar to force their way into a room, from which they removed a safe containing $30,000, an iPad and a passport before fleeing to parts unknown.

The victim sustained pain and minor bruising to the neck, but refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

Police released surveillance photos of the suspects on Friday in the hope that someone recognizes them.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
