Arsonist sets fire to Brooklyn home with 5 people inside; suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An arsonist set fire to a Brooklyn home last month as five people were inside, police said Friday as they released images of a suspect.

It happened at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Monday, May 30, at the rear of a residence located in the vicinity of 84th Street and 16th Avenue in New Utrecht.


According to officials, the suspect approached a private residence with approximately five individuals inside of it and set it on fire with an open flame.

The individual fled on 16th Avenue towards 83rd Street on foot.

There were no injuries and only property damage reported as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a man that may have a tattoo on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a white shirt, black jeans, a black hat and a dark colored backpack.
