NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 39-year-old Asian woman was attacked inside a Lower East Side grocery store after asking a man to wear a mask while inside, officials said Wednesday.

The incident occurred at the Heng Yun Grocery located at 329 Grand Street just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, after she asked 35-year-old Carlos Mackey to put a mask on, authorities said.

According to a report from the New York Post, Mackey responded by saying “only people that are real Americans are Native Americans, everyone else is an immigrant including black people."

Mackey then tried to run out with items from the store and attacked the woman on the way out and allegedly punched her three times in the face while yelling “f***ing immigrant,” the outlet added.

Police arrested Mackey and charged him with robbery, court documents show.

He currently is not facing any hate crime charges.
