NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Tuesday released photos of a suspect wanted for allegedly beating a woman with an umbrella in a Manhattan subway station last week.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Monday, June 15, inside the West 4th Street subway station in Greenwich Village.


According to officials, a 62-year-old woman was exiting a subway train when she accidentally bumped into the suspect, sparking a verbal dispute, which quickly turned physical.

The attacker shoved the victim to the ground and repeatedly struck her across the body with an umbrella before fleeing the station on foot to an unknown location.

The victim was transported via private means to NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health, where she was treated for her injuries and listed in stable condition.

The suspect was last seen wearing a black dress, pink sneakers, and carrying a green bag.
