NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 19-year-old tourist from Australia is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed multiple times early Monday morning inside a Midtown McDonald's, according to the NYPD.
It happened at approximately 2:01 a.m. inside the fast food restaurant located at 490 8th Ave., authorities said. Officers responding to the scene discovered the young man suffering from multiple stab wounds to his torso.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue, where he is listed in stable condition.
Sources close to the investigation identified the victim as an Australian visitor.
Officials have taken a person of interest into custody in connection with the assault, with formal charges currently pending.
