The attempted heist happened around 5:30 p.m. on May 14. A young man and woman with European accents entered the gallery and tried to snatch the unidentified Basquiat, police said.

Basquiat’s paintings usually sell for around eight figures as the street artist is considered an icon. One of his works sold for a record of $110 million.
Video released by the NYPD Thursday shows the two suspects walking away from the gallery near 10th Avenue and West 28th Street.
