NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A bicyclist was killed in Queens Thursday night when he crashed into a moving box truck, police said.
The victim, identified as Jorge Galicia, 47, was biking at 54th Avenue and Maurice Avenue in Maspeth shortly after 8 p.m. when he slammed into the driver's side door of a white Chevrolet box truck headed south on Maurice Avenue, according to police.
A 46-year-old man driving the truck stopped and remained at the scene, police said.
Galicia, of Corona, suffered trauma throughout his body in the crash. EMS rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he died.
It's unclear who had the right of way at the time of the crash. No arrests have been reported as the NYPD continues to investigate.
