NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Billy Joel and Rod Stewart announced on Thursday that they will take the stage for a one-night-only performance at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
The concert will happened on Friday, July 18, featuring both artists performing their most iconic songs from their careers.
“We are thrilled to host Billy Joel and Rod Stewart this summer at Yankee Stadium,” said Scott Krug, New York Yankees Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “Their timeless catalogs and impact on the history of rock and roll music cannot be overstated, and we expect a magical evening with them in the Bronx. It is also particularly fitting that Billy Joel, who was born in the Bronx and is so iconically identified with New York, will become the first musical act to headline a show at both the original Yankee Stadium and the current Yankee Stadium.”
Joel’s connection to Yankee Stadium runs deep—his iconic concerts at the original Yankee Stadium on June 22-23, 1990, captured in the film Billy Joel Live from Yankee Stadium, are considered one of the greatest concert films of all time.
Tickets for the concert will go on sale on Friday, Jan. 17, at 10:00 a.m. through LiveNation.com, Yankees.com, Yankeesbeisbol.com, and Ticketmaster.com.
