NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 63-year-old Brooklyn man was sentenced to 19 years in prison for fatally slitting the throat of his ex-girlfriend, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office announced on Thursday.
On Nov. 13, 2018, Romeo Borneo called the police to report a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, 47-year-old Erica Renaud.
When police arrived, they found Borneo with cuts to his wrists and Renaud dead under a pile of blood-stained bedding.
Medical examiners determined she died from blood loss after her throat was cut.
Borneo pleaded guilty to manslaughter on April 3.
In addition to the 19-year sentence, Borneo was sentenced to five years post-release supervision.
“With today’s sentence the defendant has been held responsible for the vicious and deadly stabbing of an innocent woman and mother,” said Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez. “Today’s lengthy prison sentence is a step toward justice for the victim’s family and friends.”
