NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 23-year-old Brooklyn man was sentenced to 21 years in prison on Tuesday for fatally shooting a 15-year-old boy in 2017, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office.
Zidon Clarke was searching for rival gang members on East 55th Street near Lenox Road in East Flatbush on Feb. 20, 2017, when he mistakenly shot Rohan Levy, a student who was not gang affiliated.
Levy was walking home from a high school basketball game when Clarke shot him in the back of the head.
An 18-year-old Levy was walking with was also hit in the leg.
"This defendant took the life of an innocent teen in a cold-blooded act of gun violence that left a family forever traumatized," said Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. "We will not allow this type of gang activity on the streets of Brooklyn."
Clarke was a member of the Folk Nation gang.
He was convicted of manslaughter, conspiracy to commit murder, weapons charges and related offenses.
