NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for a driver wanted in a fatal car crash on Staten Island Monday night, authorities said.
The crash happened just after 10 p.m. on a service road of the Staten Island Expressway in Graniteville.
According to officials, a black BMW sedan was heading west off the expressway when it crashed through a fence and into a utility pole.
Yuman Chugahatai, 26, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 23-year-old man sitting in the passenger seat also suffered minor injuries.
The BMW driver the license plates off the crashed car then fled, the NYPD said.
An investigation is ongoing.
