NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 4-year-old boy was struck and killed in Brooklyn by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday, police said.
The driver of a white Ford SUV hit the boy shortly after 11 a.m. at Linden Boulevard and Rockaway Parkway in Brownsville, according to the NYPD, which said the information was preliminary.
The boy apparently got away from his mother and ran eastbound on Rockaway Parkway towards Church Avenue as the driver was headed northbound on Linden Boulevard, police said.
The child was transported by private means to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police were searching for the driver who left the scene. No arrests have been reported.
