Boy, 5, critically injured after struck by car in Brooklyn crash

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 5-year-old boy was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle in Brooklyn on Sunday night, officials said.

According to police, the boy was walking along Ocean Avenue near Avenue S in the Gravesend section just before 5:30 p.m. when he was struck by the car, according to police.

The 18-year-old driver was going northbound on the Ocean Parkway service road when he collided with a tree then struck the child, authorities said.

The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical, but stable condition, officials said.

The driver remained on scene and so far no charges have been filed.

An investigation by police is ongoing.
