NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 6-year-old boy died in a Bronx fire Friday evening, according to reports.
According to FDNY officials, units responded to the Mitchel Houses at 303 East 135th St. at 5:17 p.m. on reports of a fire in a compactor chute.
The flames pushed smoke through the building's upper floors, and reached two alarms, with over 100 fire personnel responding to the scene.
Twelve people in total went to hospitals due to the fire, including a 6-year-old boy, according to ABC7, who was transported in critical condition and pronounced dead.

Another person, who ABC7 reported is the child's 32-year-old father, went to a hospital in critical condition after he was found unconscious.
Eight people and two firefighters also went to area hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening.
The fire was under control about two hours later at about 7:24 p.m.
The cause is currently under investigation by fire marshals.
