NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A firefighter is in critical condition and over a dozen other hospitalized after a blaze at Bronx home Sunday evening, fire officials said as they investigate if a lithium battery was the cause.
The flames broke out just before 7:30 p.m. on the first floor of a residence located at 2462 Devoe Terrace in the Kingsbridge Heights section. The fire then spread to other multi-family homes, according to fire officials.
There were 14 people - mostly firefighters - injured in the five-alarm fire. One firefighter remains critical.
A lithium battery was found at the scene and the fire marshal is investigating whether it ignited the flames.
