NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 40-year-old teacher was arrested on Monday for allegedly striking a student in class at a Bronx elementary school after getting into an altercation, according to the NYPD.
David Moore, a Department of Education teacher at P.S. 168 located at Webster Ave. in Norwood, was charged with assault, disorderly conduct, and harassment.
According to officials, verbal dispute involving Moore and the 8-year-old student escalated and Moore struck the child in the rib with a closed fist.
Following the arrest, Department of Education officials reassigned Moore from the school and will move to fire him if he's convicted, spokeswoman Jenna Lyle said.
An investigation remains ongoing.
