NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police released surveillance footage of a man seen slashing a Walgreens security guard during an attempted robbery late last month in the Bronx.
The incident, which was captured on video occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Monday, July 26, inside of a Walgreen's pharmacy located at 925 Sound View Avenue in the Soundview section, officials said.
Authorities said the suspect removed beer, passed all points of sale and attempted to leave the store with the products without paying when he was confronted by the security guard.
The suspect then brandished a sharp, cutting object and slashed the 54-year-old security guard on the arm, causing a severe laceration, the NYPD said.
Police said the suspect was unable to remove any store property and fled the scene in an unknown direction.
EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Jacobi in stable condition.
