NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Flatbush couple welcomed their first-born child just as the ball dropped in Times Square and the calendar flipped to 2024, NYC Health + Hospitals announced.

At the stroke of midnight, Rafael Abitbul and mom welcomed a yet-to-be-named baby boy weighing in at 7 lbs. 12.5 oz. and measuring 21 in.

The baby was born at NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn in Sheepshead Bay, and he was delivered by the same doctor who delivered Abitbul 23 years before.

This is the hospital’s fifth first baby of the New Year in a row, the health system said.
