NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A hospital in Brooklyn and a hospital on Long Island have welcomed the New York City area’s first babies of 2021.

Jaxel Rodriguez was born at NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island in Brooklyn at “exactly 12 a.m.” on Jan. 1, the hospital said in a Facebook post.

“Congratulations to parents Ivett Rodriguez and father Antonio Guilbert!” the post read. “Jaxel, who weighs 6 pounds 11 ounces and measures 19 inches, is the couple’s third child.”

Stony Brook University Hospital on Long Island, meanwhile, welcomed its first baby of 2021 a minute later.

“Weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce, the new baby girl was born at 12:01 a.m., just one minute into the start of 2021,” Stony Brook Medicine said in its own Facebook post. “She was delivered by Charissa Dinobile, MD, Rabale Hasan, MD, Diana Calero Kunda, MD, and Ashley Etienne, RN.”

“Congrats to Nicole and Brien on their little nugget!” the post added.
