Brooklyn man, 40, killed in early morning shooting

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD is investigating after a 40-year-old man was shot and killed at a brownstone in Brooklyn early Sunday morning.

At about 1:02 a.m., police responded to a report of a man shot at 673 Sterling Pl., near Franklin Avenue, in Crown Heights.

Responding officers found Lavel Fraiser, 40, with a gunshot wound to the torso.

EMS transported Fraiser to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County where he was pronounced dead.

Fraiser lived in Prospect Heights, only a few blocks away from the site of the shooting, police said.

The New York Daily News reported that Fraiser was shot in the basement of the Brooklyn apartment where he was found.

There have been no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
