NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man was arrested on hate crimes after yelling and throwing a rock at an Orthodox Jewish man in Brooklyn, police said Wednesday.
Officials arrested Mohamed Habachi, 23, Tuesday morning and charges with assault-hate crime, menacing-hate crime, assault with a weapon, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.
The victim, 45, was in front of 9 Montrose Ave. in Williamsburg on Wednesday, Nov. 22, when Habachi approached him while riding on a bicycle, cops said.
Habachi "then made a statement and threw a rock, striking the victim's leg," police said. That statement, according to the Daily News, was "Free Palestine!."
