Police also charged Breindy Meisels, 29, with attempted manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child and abandonment of a child.

The baby’s father called the police around 4:50 a.m. and said he was asleep during the incident.

When officers arrived at the couple’s home on 51st Street near 19th Avenue in Mapleton, they found the infant was severely injured. He suffered from multiple broken ribs and fractured bones.

As of Saturday afternoon, he was still in the ICU at Maimonides Medical Center.
