
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – The NYPD arrested a 28-year-old teacher aide at a Bedford-Stuyvesant high school for specialized instruction for allegedly engaging in a criminal sex act involving a 16-year-old female student, police said.
Malik Dixon, a Department of Education employee at P.S. 373 - Brooklyn Transition Center, was arrested at 3:57 p.m. Friday in the same precinct in which the school is located, officials said.
Brooklyn Transition Center, located at 185 Ellery Street, serves students aged 14-21 who “[represent] a range of abilities and [include] students with autism spectrum disorders, significant cognitive delays, emotional disabilities, sensory impairments and multiple disabilities,” according to the school’s website.
Dixon is charged with criminal sex act in which the alleged victim is a 16-year-old female student, according to an NYPD spokesperson.
According to the Brooklyn Transition Center website, the school’s primary objective is to provide students with the skills necessary to become independent adults and provides speech, hearing and vision services, physical and occupational therapy, travel training and parent counseling.
The Department of Education did not immediately respond to 1010 WINS/WCBS 880’s request for comment.
As of 12 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Malik Dixon was still included on Brooklyn Transition Center’s staff directory.
