NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Brooklyn woman was stabbed to death in a brutal act of domestic violence on Friday night, and the NYPD has charged a man in her murder.
The stabbing broke out at about 11:40 p.m. in Roselene Oliveira’s sixth-floor apartment at 333 East 92nd Street in East Flatbush, and then continued throughout the building.
It was a gory scene, with blood and bandages strewn throughout the hallway where the 45-year-old woman was killed.
Mel lives in the building and claimed that he heard commotion and screaming, saw the attack and tried to intervene.
“At that moment my adrenaline was pumping, so I hit the knife because he could probably just be going on a killing spree,” he told 1010 WINS.
Mel said that the man did not say anything, and was “just stabbing away” until he grabbed him.
“He grabbed the knife first and then I tackled him, wrestled him to the ground and I held him down, and the knife was nowhere near me,” Mel said.
Police responded after receiving a 911 call and discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds throughout her body. EMS transported her to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, but she could not be saved.
A suspect was taken into custody after the stabbing. On Saturday police announced a second-degree murder charge and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon charge against 29-year-old Weverton Lino of the Bronx for the killing.
“I was so startled because I had to stop him from even continuing to stab her, he was—I really, I’m shook up,” Mel said.
